Tonight’s Republican debate will feature front-runner Donald Trump attempting to fend off the suddenly hot Ted Cruz, who Trump recently called a “maniac” (It takes one to know one, we suppose). The pair’s patriotic chest-thumping, cartoonish masculinity and xenophobic worldview won’t just play well on CNN’s debate stage, however — those are also the main ingredients for idiotic tough-guy action movies of the Reagan era.
