In the past week, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has spouted blatant lies about seeing “thousands and thousands” of Muslims celebrating on 9/11; retweeted specious, racist crime statistics; and said that as president, he’d “absolutely” implement a Muslim-tracking database. All in all, business as usual for The Donald! In spite of — or, more likely, directly because of — his insipid rhetoric, Trump remains well ahead in the polls. To which we can only say: Good grief!
