This week, Seth MacFarlane shocked viewers when he killed off Brian Griffin, the urbane, beloved family dog on Family Guy. Just what we always look for when we tune into an inane, fart-riddled Sunday night cartoon: gruesome, heartbreaking animal death. On this holiday week, that’s a particularly upsetting way for MacFarlane to say “thanks” to his fans.
