CLASSIC MAD DEPT.
After lying on its side since January 2012, the Costa Concordia cruise ship was finally raised last night — an $800 million engineering feat that took 500 salvage-crew members 19 hours to accomplish. While this was a cause for celebration, it again shone a spotlight on Captain Francesco Schettino, who fled the ship like a well-tanned rat after running it aground. Though Captain Coward awaits trial on manslaughter charges, we passed our own judgment on the idiot back in MAD #519, February 2013.
