Yesterday, Steven Spielberg’s film Lincoln received 12 Academy Award Nominations including one for Best Picture. Yesterday, Baseball Hall of Fame voters shut out two of the Steroid Era’s most prominent cheaters: Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. In the spirit of kicking an acne-scarred, big-headed homunculus when he’s down, we commemorate their very public shaming with two classic MAD pieces.
History repeated itself once again yesterday as newly reelected House Speaker John Boehner began crying while addressing Congress. And history once again repeats itself today as we reprise this MAD Classic.
In December 2010, BP earned the top spot in MAD’s “20 Dumbest People, Events and Things” with their horrific oil rig explosion and the disastrous oil spill that followed in the Gulf of Mexico. Today, BP finally admitted their guilt, agreed to pay $4.5 billion in fines and pled guilty to 14 criminal charges. A small bit of justice for the 11 people killed in the explosion and the millions more whose lives were disrupted or forever ruined by BP’s gross incompetence.
