This past weekend was the San Diego Comic-Con. And while there was plenty to see — there was even more to hear. So prick up your pointy blue Na’vi ears and listen for these…

This weekend, thousands of the best writers, artists, editors and journalists have gathered in San Diego for Comic-Con, in what’s become one of the most important and prestigious pop culture events in the nation. So what is MAD doing there? We’re still trying to figure that out, but today we’re taking a break from the figuring to host “Mad about MAD,” a no-holds-barred Q&A panel featuring MAD magazine editor John Ficarra, art director Sam Viviano, assistant art director Ryan Flanders, Sergio Aragones, Tom Richmond and Peter Kuper.
So far it looks like the audience will be comprised of a few people who fell asleep during the panel before ours and a crew of confused Klingons looking for the bathroom. Oh, and you, of course! You can follow along with the action as it takes place below. It’s our live coverage of the Mad about MAD Comic-Con panel, and it’s available to you for absolutely free. Because, really, who would want to pay for it?

If you're going to San Diego Comic-Con next week, there will be plenty of MAD events to partake in once you get squeezed out of the Firefly reunion panel! Here's what you can do to get the most of your MAD experience this year:
• Stop by the DC Entertainment booth to see the MADropolitan Museum of Art! We'll be displaying framed prints of classic MAD superhero illustrations from over the years, featuring art by Mark Fredrickson, Mort Drucker, Dave Gibbons, Frank Miller and more! Many of these are being shown without logos and text for the first time!
• Come to the "Mad about MAD" panel on Saturday from 2:00-3:00pm in Room 9! Find out everything we've got planned for MAD's 60th Anniversary and for the next 60 years to come, with editor John Ficarra, art director Sam Viviano, assistant art director Ryan Flanders and artists Angelo Torres, Sergio Aragonés, Tom Richmond, and Peter Kuper! Be sure to have good questions ready — prizes will be awarded!
• Aspiring MAD illustrators and cartoonists: we'll be doing portfolio reviews, so keep your eyes and ears open for more details!
