Happy 100th Birthday, Richard M. Nixon!

Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recently said this about President Obama: “He’s like a man wandering around a dark room…clutching for the light switch of leadership, and he just can’t find it.” Yesterday, after Obama rushed to New Jersey's aid in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Christie said: “It’s been very good working with the president…It’s been wonderful.” Faster than it took to flood lower Manhattan, the Gov and Prez were suddenly BFFs and seen hugging each other repeatedly on national television. Who knows where this relationship is going?

From MAD #517, October 2012
In anticipation of Bubba's big speech at the Democratic National Convention tonight, we present two images of him happily posing with our magazine over the years. We'll hit the trifecta if anyone can snap a photo of him holding MAD tonight!

Circa July 2001. Thanks to Billy Robin for the snap!

Circa November 2008. Thanks to Brenner Willaims for the snap!
We've been teasing our new cover over the last two weeks, asking our readers to figure out what the final image will look like. Today the full cover was revealed by our friends at The Huffington Post! Congrats to Idiotical reader Mark Anthony Vincent, who came closest when he wrote "Obama on one side, Romney on the other side of Alfreds shoulders". (Mark, if you had only added that Barry and Mitt were both devils, you'd have won the summer 2012 gold medal in MAD cover-guessing.)
Click here to head over to HuffPo to see the cover, titled "Welcome to Election Hell". It's painted by Mark Fredrickson.
Building on Toni Morrison declaring that Bill Clinton was "The First Black President," Newsweek this week declared Barack Obama "The First Gay President" on its cover. Given all the press that her magazine received for the cover, it's only a matter of time before Newsweek editor and media opportunist Tina Brown will try to duplicate this success with other ridiculous presidential covers.
