Coming in May, DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 “Second Wave” will literally expand the world-building efforts of the comprehensive publishing initiative. With the addition of a parallel Earth that features prominently into both EARTH 2 and WORLDS’ FINEST, the developing narrative will encompass new heroes from distinctly different backgrounds, building on the shared universe in some surprising ways. “Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin,” said James Robinson, writer of EARTH 2.

A Sneak Peek at Oscar Acceptance Speeches

The Oscars are this Sunday night — and by now all the nominees have already scored their free tuxedos, gowns and jewelry from designers desperate to have their names mentioned on the red carpet. All that’s left for them to do is to score some sedatives for the big night and finish writing their acceptance speeches...unless you’re Glenn Close. And the winner of the ComicsPRO Appreciation Award is….

On Sunday night, the world will be transfixed with Oscar ballots and acceptance speeches. Earlier this month, DC Entertainment Senior Vice President of Sales, Bob Wayne, was presented with a lifetime achievement award with a slightly different profile: The ComicsPRO Industry Appreciation Award. The Award honors individuals in the comic book industry who have been committed to the direct market and comic book retailers across the country.

“NIGHT OF THE OWLS” – TALON DESIGN (1980s)

The “Night of the Owls” is coming this May, pitting the extended Bat-family against the deadly Court of Owls. A shadowy secret society with roots that date back to Gotham City’s earliest history, the Court employs a cadre of timeless, sinister assassins known as Talons to execute its malevolent will. Even the BATMAN back-up features its own Talon, brought to life by artist Rafael Albuquerque. "I've tried to bring a clerical look,” he said. “Ceremonial, but also, something an assassin could use.
