Jack Davis and Drew Friedman in Brooklyn

This past weekend, the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival held a "Jack Davis Q&A" hosted by Drew Friedman and Gary Groth. They discussed a large selection of artwork from Jack's legendary career, including movie posters, Time and TV Guide covers, and, of course, his incredible number of MAD contributions.

Here's a photo of the two esteemed members of the Usual Gang of Idiots just before their talk. (By the way, don't be fooled by the picture! The event was NOT sponsored by the "Grey Herringbone Jacket Manufacturers of America.")

Al Jaffee Profiled on CNN.com

As if there wasn’t enough proof that the journalism is dead, CNN has a huge article about Al Jaffee on their homepage today! The article explores his life, his work, and his new book! Suspiciously missing, however, is any mention of Al’s preference for Funyuns over more conventional snack foods. Why is the media so afraid to dig deeper?!?!

The story is accompanied by caricatures of several members of The Usual Gang of Idiots as illustrated by our very own Tom Richmond! (That's his drawing of Al above.) Click here to read the whole thing and see the rest of Tom's art!

And don't forget: The MAD Fold-in Collection, featuring over 400 of Al's Fold-ins is on sale now! Makes a great stocking stuffer (if you're stuffing Shaquille O'Neal's stocking, that is.)

Newt Gingrich's Laws of Physics

Back in 1995, when Newt Gingrich was Speaker of the House, we applied Sir Issac Newton’s Three Laws of Motion to Speaker "Newton" Gingrich's political career. The results were groundbreaking. With Gingrich’s recent sudden emergence as the front runner for the GOP Presidential nomination, we went back and took another look at our original presentation. We were stunned at how well our hypothesis held up and what little updating was required to once again scientifically and conclusively prove that Newt is an arrogant, two-faced buffoon.
