Spy Vs. Spy Custom Toy Project: Jim Lee

Last week, we told you the Spy vs. Spy Custom Toy Exhibit was coming to the New York Comic Con — and that there would be some surprise additions to the show! Well, here’s one of them! In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Spy vs. Spy, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee contributed this awesome design, based on the “Composite Superman” character — complete with a murderous twist!

Celebrity Rock Paper Scissors

All of your favorite stars are playing…without even realizing it.

Let the games begin!

Will.i.am throws...ROCK!

But Jay-Z beats him with…PAPER!

But Justin Bieber beats that by throwing…SCISSORS!

Only to be defeated when Sarah Palin throws…ROCK!

Which is covered by Robert Pattinson’s…PAPER!

Which gets cut by Samantha Ronson’s…SCISSORS!

Which gets smashed by Lil Wayne’s…ROCK!

Which gets covered by LeBron James’...PAPER!

But The Situation slices through it with his…SCISSORS!

But Pauly D smashes them with…ROCK! (Not cool, bro!)

Which gets covered by Hitler’s…PAPER!

Which is defeated by Churchill’s…SCISSORS! (Whew!)

But those get smashed by Katy Perry’s…ROCK!

But that gets beaten by President Obama’s…PAPER!

Which gets cut by Nixon’s…DOUBLE SCISSORS!!! (Cheater!)

But Superman saves the day by throwing…DOUBLE ROCKS!

SUPERMAN WINS!

Congratulations to the Man of Steel!

An 'Idiotical' Idea

Last night while Googling ourselves (we had to do SOMETHING to keep from falling asleep during the GOP debate), we found this tweet from Cindy Ritzman:

It was accompanied by a photo of her son, Brody Hunt, playing a game of Sleeveface with the back cover ad from MAD #511. What was the ad for, you ask? Well, a little blog you might have heard of: The Idiotical.

We can barely tell where Brock ends and Alfred begins!

MAD at New York Comic Con

Come meet “The Usual Gang of Idiots!” MAD Editor John Ficarra will lead a MAD panel discussion (and potential melee) featuring the legendary Fold-In artist Al Jaffee, Spy vs. Spy writer/artist Peter Kuper, writer Desmond Devlin, art director Sam Viviano and the writer/producer of the MAD show on Cartoon Network, Kevin Shinick! It's on Sunday, October 16 at 12:15 at the Javits Center in New York City.

For directions, tickets and other info, click here.

One unlucky attendee to the panel will go home with a copy of the brand spanking new MAD Fold-In Collection, compliments of Chronicle Books! (No backsies!)

Come see for yourself why other comic conventions who have hosted MAD panels have all said the same thing: “Never again!”

“The MAD Fold-In Collection” — A New Book and An Exclusive Fold-In!

The MAD Fold-In Collection is on sale now! This amazing, four-volume set includes over 400 of Al Jaffee’s Fold-ins. As if that weren’t enough, Al even created an exclusive Fold-In just for the book!
